Pausing and resuming campaigns
2 minutes read time Difficulty: beginner
Pausing and resuming campaigns
Temporarily stop a campaign without losing progress — resume when ready.
When to pause
- You notice high failure rates and want to investigate
- You need to adjust timing (e.g., approaching off-hours)
- You want to verify initial results before continuing
- An issue is reported with the template content
How to pause
- Open the running campaign
- Click the "Pause" button
- Confirm in the dialog
- Campaign status changes to "Paused"
Messages already sent are NOT affected. Only remaining unsent recipients are paused.
How to resume
- Open the paused campaign
- Click "Resume" (or "Start" button)
- Sending continues from where it left off
What happens during pause
- No new messages are sent
- Already-sent messages continue to be delivered/read (status updates still come in)
- Recipients list is preserved
- You can still view stats and recipient details
Pause vs Cancel
| Action | Can resume? | Messages sent? |
|---|---|---|
| Pause | ✅ Yes | Preserved |
| Cancel | ❌ No | Preserved but campaign is permanently stopped |
Tips
- Pause early if something's wrong — Better to pause at 100 sent than 10,000
- Check stats before resuming — Make sure delivery rate is healthy
- Don't pause too long — Templates can expire or get paused by Meta
- Communicate with team — Let others know why the campaign is paused
