Understanding audit logs

Audit logs record every significant action in your workspace — who did what, when, and what changed.

Accessing audit logs

  1. Go to Settings → Audit Logs
  2. You'll see a chronological list of all actions

What's logged

Action typeExamples
AccountCreated, updated, deleted WhatsApp accounts
UserCreated, deactivated, role changed
TemplateCreated, edited, deleted
CampaignCreated, started, paused, cancelled
ContactCreated, updated, deleted, merged
SettingsRole changed, team modified, webhook updated
AuthLogin, logout, password changed, SSO login

Log entry details

Each entry shows:

  • Timestamp — When the action happened
  • User — Who performed the action
  • Action — What was done (created, updated, deleted)
  • Resource — What was affected (account, contact, template)
  • Changes — Before/after values (for updates)

Filtering logs

Filter by:

  • Date range — Last 7 days, 30 days, custom
  • User — Actions by a specific team member
  • Action type — Only creates, only deletes, etc.
  • Resource — Only account changes, only contact changes

Use cases

Security monitoring

  • Detect unauthorized access (unusual login times/locations)
  • Track who changed sensitive settings
  • Monitor API key creation/revocation

Compliance

  • Prove who deleted a contact (GDPR requests)
  • Track template changes for approval records
  • Document access control changes

Troubleshooting

  • "Who changed this setting?" — Check audit logs
  • "When was this contact deleted?" — Filter by resource
  • "Why did the campaign stop?" — Check for pause/cancel actions

Retention

Audit logs are retained for 90 days. After that, they're automatically purged.

Tips

  1. Check weekly — Spot unusual activity early
  2. Review after incidents — Audit logs tell the full story
  3. Use for onboarding — Show new admins what actions look like
  4. Export if needed — Download logs for compliance records
